With an academic background in archaeology, I aim to reach back, harkening to paleolithic and geologic times, evoking memory and narrative tied to our common roots within landscapes and communities. In archaeological science, we understand that an artifact is nothing without context. Through bringing narrative to my work with wild clay slips and a variety of firing methods, I hope to explore forms, textures, colors, triumphs and failures inherent in our shared human history.
